Most MSPs don't choose a tech stack once. They assemble one, tool by tool, over years of renewals and referrals. BetterTracker's Q2 2026 analysis covers real buyer sentiment data across 2,909 vendors in 41 categories, including RMM, PSA, EDR, MDR, SOC, backup, email and network security, identity, ticketing, documentation, and communications. Across every dimension measured, one pattern holds market-wide: buyers are confident in what a tool does. They are far less confident in what it costs them, and how well it connects to everything else already running.
Not always. Four categories BetterTracker analyzed are already functional monopolies, with a single vendor holding more than half the market: Intuit in Accounting (72.2 percent), Microsoft in Virtual Desktop (52.1 percent), IT Glue in Documentation (52.0 percent), and ThreatLocker in Zero Trust (51.9 percent). Consolidating onto fewer vendors can trade integration complexity for concentration risk.
Yes. Integration is the lowest-scoring dimension BetterTracker analyzed market-wide, at 3.96 out of 5, and it is the weakest dimension inside 33 of the 41 categories analyzed.
DNS Protection has the widest internal gap, Performance scores 4.68 while Integration scores 3.31, a 1.37-point spread. MFA shows a similar pattern, Satisfaction at 4.72 against Integration at 3.67.
Microsoft holds the top vendor share in six of the 41 categories BetterTracker analyzed: Antivirus, Chat Software, Cloud Storage, IAM, Video Conferencing, and Virtual Desktop.
Cloud Security, Anti-Phishing, Network Security, and VoIP. No vendor holds more than 12 percent share in any of these four categories.
